Site Size & Condition: Medium Prasat Wat Chom Cheun (วัดชมชื่น - Pronounced: Wot Jom Choo-ern)

Although previously not listed as a Khmer-period site recent archaeological digs by the Thai Fine Arts Department have confirmed that the Sukhothai-style brick wat seen today was certainly constructed on an existing - late 12th or early 13th-century - site. (As is the case with many Chaliang sites.)

The layout is similar to nearby Wat Noi Champi with a brick stupa preceded by a small brick mondop, in turn, preceded to the east by a now roofless hallway with brick columns. The ensemble is surrounded by a laterite wall which is plausibly the only intact Khmer-period element still visible.

The site has an attractive riverbank setting while the new, eponymously-named museum, is situated immediately next to it and displays numerous artefacts unearthed at the temple site.
