National Maritime Museum (พิพิธภัณฑสถานแห่งชาติพาณิชย์นาวี)
Small but fascinating and well-presented museum featuring information, maps and numerous artefacts retrieved from shipwrecks, illustrating the history of maritime trade in the Gulf of Thailand from early times. Chanthaburi appears to have been an important port from the Funan and Chenla periods onwards and while there are no specific Khmer exhibits as such the displays ought to be of great interest to any amateur of Khmer, particularly pre-Angkorian archaeology.
The museum is open Wednesday-Sunday, 09.00-16.00, with a 30 baht entrance fee for foreigners.
