Prasat Tamnak Sai (ปราสาทตำหนักไทร - Pronounced: Pra-saht Tam-nak Sai)
This single, east-facing brick tower on a double platform is located slightly to the east of the active Buddhist monastery Wat Tamnak Sai. The tower has been extensively restored in recent years and, although lacking its upper section, is in good condition. (1) The western doorway features octagonal colonettes and, previously, a reclining Vishnu lintel, while a pair of lion statues and sandstone lotus-form top-piece can also be seen on-site along with a pedestal in the tower's interior. (The lintel has since been moved to the Phimai National Museum.)
As with many sites in the region, the shrine appears to be in an 11th-century, Khleang or Baphuon style.
(1) Please note that our photos were taken prior to restoration.
