Site Size & Condition: Neak Ta San Por Hin Mo (ศาลพ่อหินโม่ - Pronounced: San Paw Hin Moh)

Small concrete spirit shrine housing a carved sandstone block, an intact linga pedestal with soma sutra and several unidentifiable sandstone fragments. The artefacts were relatively recently unearthed in a nearby rubber plantation and as of May 2022, they are still in situ in the shrine. It has been suggested that the pedestal is in a Yasovarman I style and possibly contemporary with the Boran Sathan Muang Paniat to the south.

The shrine sits on top of a low hill which reveals pottery and brick fragments and may well be considered a potential tuol site. Several small regular-shaped reservoirs can also be discerned in the vicinity although the area has undergone extensive reworking in recent times for agricultural, and/or, construction purposes.

The location is significant in that it sits close to the junction of modern-day highway 317 with route 3193 which leads to the Thai-Cambodian border crossing at Ban Pakkad-Phsa Prum. Both routes have probably been used for transportation purposes for many centuries with the former connecting Chanthaburi (an important port since at least the Chenla-period) with what is today Sa Keow and Aranyaprathet-Poipet, while the latter is the most southerly practicable route between Chanthaburi and the Khmer province of Battambang.

Many thanks to the YouTube Walking History channel for giving the site wider attention and for their excellent video which we've linked below.
