Huay Kam (ຫ້ວຍກັມ - Pronounced: Whoo-ay Kam)
Satellite imagery clearly shows an ancient temple site situated just 500m or so north of the northern baray at Wat Phu. Lines of vegetation show what was presumably a rectangular temple area with a 150m x 200m reservoir lying immediately to the east.
We confess to not having visited the site ourselves and so are unaware of what vestiges, if any, can be seen in situ but as no structures are recorded on the detailed UNESCO survey of the area, we'd suppose at best brick fragments and an earth mound remain.
Unlike the majority of sites in the vicinity both temple and reservoir locations are aligned very slightly north of east-west meaning Huay Kam is unlikely to have been contemporary with the main temple group to the south and could conceivably be an earlier structure associated with Shrestapura?
