Site Size & Condition: Ancient Village Ban Khonburi (บ้านครบุรี - Pronounced: Baan Kon-buree)

Substantial-sized, oval-shaped ancient settlement located in the far northeast of the province, close to the present-day day border with Buriram Province. The Sathaet River flows a short distance away to the north and east of the village. (Confusingly, the village has the same name as the capital of the eponymously named district, abutting Sa Kaeo and Prachinburi in the far south of the province. Prasat Khonburi is located in the latter district.)

The site shows traces of a double embankment and moat - sections of which are still intact - enclosing an area aligned northwest-southeast which measures approximately 500m x 1200m at its widest points. A now irregular area of wetland to the northeast may have evolved from an earlier baray or reservoir.

We're unaware of any specific vestiges within the village area or the results of any TFASD excavations that may have taken place.
