Site Size & Condition: Ancient Village Ban Nong Lum Phuk (บ้านหนองลำพุก - Pronounced: Baan Nawng Loum Pouk)

This small, forested patch of land amid extensive paddy-fields corresponds to the ancient circular settlement site named Sra Ta Ko. The large reservoir, Nong Tua Paep is situated a short distance northwest of what appears to be the outer of two surrounding moats.

The settlement certainly existed at least as far back as Dvaravati times - if not earlier - although the TFAD claimed to have found sandstone blocks and saw fit to name the site Prasat Sra Ta Ko. During a visit to the site by Asger Mollerup [1]however, he was unable to identify any specific tuol site or ancient vestiges - including said sandstone - apart from a single piece of laterite and pottery and brick fragments. He did notice iron slag in the southern sector of the village suggesting a local metal-working industry.

As a (minor) industrial site, and being situated close to the Prasat Ban Nong Tua Paep complex, the village must certainly have had a Khmer presence regardless of the veracity of the TFAD's prasat claim.
