Dong Muang (เขตดอนเมือง - Pronounced: Dong Moo-ang)
This ancient settlement site, presently called Baan Dong Muang, though previously known as Muang U Thapao, features a well-preserved and clearly defined moated, circular core area which measures some 300m east-west and 400m north-south. Subsequent extensions to the settlement are visible to the east, west and north with a moat also partially enclosing the eastern section.
Aside from the moat and earthen embankments, we are unaware of any remaining ancient vestiges in the ancient settlement area and while it is listed by both the TFAD and the CISARK website we are unable to access any additional information at present. Our assumption would be a Dvaravati settlement which subsequently came under Khmer control.
At Wat U Thapao inside the original moat there are several dusty display cases with hundreds of pottery fragments (mostly from pots but also a few from small sculptures), a few bricks and laterite blocks, and a mostly intact ancient Buddha. Nobody here was aware of anything ancient still in situ anywhere around the area.
