Site Size & Condition: Museum Chao Sam Phraya National Museum (พิพิธภัณฑสถานแห่งชาติ เจ้าสามพระยา - Pronounced: Pee-pita-parn Heng Chart Chow Sam Paya)

One of two 'national museums' (1) in Ayutthaya, the Chao Sam Phraya Museum houses an extensive collection of historical artefacts covering all eras from Dvaravati to Rattanakosin. As is usual in these parts, Khmer exhibits - Angkorian and pre-Angkorian - are displayed under the Lopburi category. The museum is given as the location of three relevant inscriptions numbered K.500, K.949 and K.988.

The latter, somewhat confusingly, is actually dated to the early 14th century although is recorded as being in Khmer while K.949 has been assigned a mid-10th century date with its provenance being a site called Bot Prahm. (We assume this is one of the Ayutthaya temple sites but we're unsure which one.) No information is available on K.500 or the provenance of 988.

(1) The title National Museum generally implies the site is run and managed by the TFAD.
