Site Size & Condition: Museum Muang Sing Historical Park Exhibition Hall (หอนิทรรศการอุทยานประวัติศาสตร์เมืองสิงห์ - Pronounced: Haw Nitat Sagarn Utthayan Prawat Teesat Moo-ang Sing)

Small but interesting exhibition centre located just to the rear of the Historical Park carpark and which houses a collection of finds from the surrounding ancient city of Muang Sing or Jayasinghapura. The collection includes an outdoor depository for larger artefacts such as pedestals and lotus bud tower topknots, as well as the celebrated giant Garuda sculpture. (The latter originates from the site of Muang Krud, the remainder, as far as we know, are from either Prasat Muang Sing or Monuments 2, 3 and 4.)

The interior of the small hall features some well-preserved sculptures including 4 and 8-armed Avalokitseshavara, (Lokeshvara), figures as well as an intact image of the Boddhisattva of wisdom, Prajnaparamita plus a seated naga Buddha image. All are in a Bayon style although it is interesting that many of the pedestals - both outside and within the hall - feature soma sutras and are likely to be Yoni/Shiva pedestals. One of the pedestals, originating in the main prasat site, reveals a short inscription in old Khmer although we are unable to find a corresponding 'K' number.

Smaller artefacts include amulets, pottery (both Khmer and imported), grinding stones and pestles and a set of masonry chisels are also exhibited.

A slightly hidden and easily overlooked site but one that's well worth a visit.
