Wat Muen Wai (วัดหมื่นไวย - Pronounced: Wot Moo-an Wy)
Active Buddhist monastery located in the centre of Muen Wai Town which today forms an outer suburb of the sprawling provincial capital. An old Ayutthaya-period ubosot sits on a rectangular island surrounded by a moat with an entrance causeway to the east and an alignment of 80 degrees. While this layout is strongly suggestive of an ancient Khmer sanctuary site, no clear evidence is visible on the surface at least, apart from one of two small blocks of laterite and the site requires confirmation. (The ordination hall is constructed with bricks so the partially buried laterite block (s) are intriguing.)
There is also a distinct small, raised, square mound discernable in the southeastern section of the moated area although we can find no information as to what it corresponds. Even a brief conversation with the abbot ought to provide some clarity with regards to the site.
