Site Size & Condition: Museum Ban Chiang Hian Museum (พิพิธภัณฑ์บ้านเชียงเหียน - Pronounced: Pee-pita-parn Ban Chiang Hee-an)

Small, local museum created to display some of the ancient artefacts unearthed during excavations in the surrounding ancient settlement. (Listed as Ban Chiang Hian). A limited, albeit eclectic collection includes a number of pottery artefacts, with some well-preserved Ban Chiang period pots. We're uncertain as to what, if any, Khmer-era artefacts are housed in the museum although TFAD excavations did confirm occupation into this period. Some of the later style, large urns may date to these later times and may have been used to store and transport salt, a highly valuable local product.

Dpn't expect spectacular sculptures or lintels but we feel such local museums are deserving of support and there ought to be information and exhibits of relevance to those with an interest in the Angkor-period.
