Site Size & Condition: Ancient Reservoir Baray Trapeang Ampil (បារាយណ៍ត្រពាំងអំពិល - Pronounced: Ba-ray T'ro-pahng Om-pehl)

Approximately 250m north of Prasat Banteay Ampil (Banteay Meanchey) there is a large 900m x 450m rectangular man-made reservoir that is partially seasonally filled. A smaller rectangular reservoir now sits near the centre of this larger reservoir, and we hypothesise that over time there wasn't enough water to maintain such a large reservoir, and the locals over the centuries built up the embankments of a smaller area to maintain a smaller reservoir, which is listed as Srah Trapeang Ampil.
