Site Size & Condition: Medium Prasat Prasat Chheu Teal Phliet (ប្រាសាទឈើទាលផ្លិត - Pronounced: Pra-saht Chheur T'iel P'liht!)

The lower, sandstone half of this tower is still intact and houses a number of reliefs, including two lintels, false doors and carved columns and colonettes. Additional artefacts such as an intact pedestal, sit on the ground nearby. Substantial quantities of bricks are also found close to the tower and it has been suggested that the upper half of the shrine was originally constructed from bricks.

Unusually, the sanctuary faces northeast (around 45 degrees) and a wooded area containing a small pond some 150m to the northeast may correspond to an ancient baray. (Listed as Baray Prasat Chheu Teal Phliet.) Some laterite blocks close to the shrine and on the same 45-degree alignment may possibly be vestiges of an entrance gopura. Otherwise, no additional structures such as 'libraries' or an enclosing wall are discernable.

The CISARK listing suggests a Baphuon style, although, in our opinion, a slightly earlier, Khleang period would be just as likely. (Unless they have access to lintels or inscriptions we're unaware of.)

The reason for the unusual alignment isn't immediately obvious with no obvious geographical determinants.
