Site Size & Condition: Wall/Terrace/Gate Khuen Hin Boran (เขืีอนหินโบราณ - Pronounced: Kuern Hin Boran)

A jumble of sandstone blocks stretches across a forest stream to the north of Wat Phra That Phu Phek. There are no visible signs that the structure ever had any arches so it doesn't appear to have been a bridge and it is generally considered to have been a small dam or weir. It is however unlikely that the blocks alone would have sealed the stream and interrupted the water flow to any great extent so, in our opinion, an alternative function could have been as a manmade ford which, even in the rainy season, would have facilitated carts ladened with stones from the quarry further up the hill (Hmuang Hin Phu Phek) for instance to traverse the stream. (This would be dependent upon traces of an as yet unconfirmed ancient track connecting to each end of the structure.)

While the blocks do appear to have originated in the quarry above it is of course entirely possible that over the intervening millennium someone for whatever reason, saw fit to build a small dam or weir on the stream and made use of the ancient blocks that were scattered across the hillside. With limited information on the site, for now, any and all theories remain speculative.

Some photos and description of the 'dam' can be found if you follow the external link to the Tim's Thailand website noted below.
