Site Size & Condition: Medium Ruin Prasat Phanom Chat (ปราสาทพนมชาติ - Pronounced: Pra-saht Pa-nom Chat)

The site consists of a ruined sandstone tower set on a forested ridge some 7kms southeast of Tha Phraya Town and overlooking Cambodia which lies 200m to the east. Note that the area is a military zone, off-limits to the public and still likely mined.

The shrine is in poor condition and consists of the aforementioned tower set on a brick platform and surrounded by a laterite enclosing wall. (The terrain precludes any moat or reservoir.) The ruins lack decorative features while the combination of a sandstone tower with a brick platform is an unusual one and makes dating problematic. The sandstone quarry at Ban Luk Chang is a mere 4kms to the southwest and presumably supplied material for the prasat.
