Site Size & Condition: Medium Ruin Prasat Boeng Srae Khang Lech (ប្រាសាទបឹងស្រែខាងលិច - Pronounced: Pra-saht Buhng! S'raey Kharhng Lech!)

Vestiges of a small, laterite sanctuary situated in the forest a short distance east of Boeng Srae. The main tower is partially intact although, overall the site is in poor condition and overgrown. The temple opened to the north-east with some sandstone doorframes and possibly incomplete sandstone colonettes still in situ. Traces of a small eastern porch are also apparent as is a structure to the southeast which plausibly corresponds to a 'library'. Additionally, remains of a laterite enclosing wall are in evidence - particularly in the southwest corner - while small ponds are located to the east and significantly, northeast.

The overall impression is of a Bayon-period structure while the layout - a small shrine with an eastern porch, 'library', surrounding wall and a northeast pond - hints strongly at it being one of King Jayavarman VII's arogyasalas or hospital chapels. It would be very surprising if a settlement the size of Preah Khan Kampong Svay didn't possess such a structure and in our opinion, Prasat Boeng Srae Khang Lech is the best candidate.

Logically there should be another temple site or mound close by to the east or northeast as the temple's name 'West' implies although, for now, this remains unconfirmed.
